Our North American Commercial Operations, as well as our Headquarters and Technology Center for Hemostasis and Acute Care Diagnostics, are based in Bedford, MA. Our Headquarters and Technology Center for Autoimmunity Diagnostics is based in San Diego, CA. Additionally, our Technology Center for Hemostasis and Blood Gas Reagents is in Orangeburg, NY, and our Technology Center for Whole Blood Hemostasis is in San Diego, CA.

Position Summary:

Within the assigned territory, responsible for direct sales of company products and services. Contributes to the attainment of individual, area and company goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:

Territory:

The Birmingham hemostasis sales territory covers accounts in Alabama, Mississippi, and the Florida panhandle. The ideal home location is Birmingham or another major city within the territory.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Analyzes existing and anticipated customer requirements and promotes consideration and purchase of company products and services.
  • Initiates and develops contacts with customers, both existing and potential, with focus on new sales opportunities.

  • Maintains all aspects of the IL Customer Database and Property Accountability

People Manager Accountabilities:
Effectively carries out the expectations of Werfen People Managers as defined in Werfen’s Role of the Manager program. Among others, this includes maintaining regular, at minimum once a month, and transparent communication with the team through effective use of formal one-on-one meetings with direct reports and team meets. Managing performance issues and conflict proactively; using judgment in consulting with department leadership and Human Resources. Responsibility for the team’s compliance in terms of training, and fulfillment of their tasks and objectives as well as onboarding of new employees and development of the existing team.

Skills & Capabilities:

The ideal candidate for this position will exhibit the following skills and capabilities:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a hospital lab as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or similar role in a hospital, research, or reference lab.
  • Sales experience is not necessary, but you must have an outgoing, organized, and self- motivated personality.

Travel requirements:

  • Up to 60%
  • This position is based out of a home office but requires daily travel to hospitals and other accounts to visit customers in person.

Qualifications:
Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Scientific discipline or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years prior sales experience (medical and/or capital sales experience preferred), or equivalent business experience required.
  • Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.
